On 26 May 2025, the IMT-GT Senior Officials convened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the Preparatory Meeting for the 16th IMT-GT Summit. The meeting brought together key representatives from Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand together with the ASEAN Secretariat, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Centre for IMT-GT Subregional Cooperation (CIMT) to ensure the necessary preparation and smooth execution of the Summit.
Discussions focused on finalizing the substantive documents and logistical arrangements for the Summit, as well as preparations for the signing ceremony for the Framework of Cooperation (FOC) in Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) which will be held prior to the IMT-GT Summit. The meeting underscored the shared commitment of all parties to advance regional cooperation and deliver tangible outcomes for the subregion.
