The Centre for IMT-GT Subregional Cooperation (CIMT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with United Cities Local Governments Asia Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) in Jakarta on 21 December 2023. The main objective of the MoU is to strengthen the role of cities and local government in IMT-GT in implementing Sustainable Urban Development Framework and other Sustainable Development initiatives.

This was another milestone for CIMT to forge strategic collaboration with one of the biggest cities and local government associations that connect around 7000 cities and 3.2 billion people. UCLG ASPAC has the capacity to provide technical assistance and strengthen IMTGT networking international organizations including with European Union and other United Nations Agencies.

After signing the MoU Director of CIMT, Mr. Firdaus Dahlan, had a fruitful discussion with Dr. Bernadia Irawati Tjandradewi, Secretary-General of UCLG ASPAC, regarding potential projects to be pursued in 2024 such as project related to climate change and capacity building for local government and cities.
