LEADERS’ JOINT STATEMENT FOR THE 14TH IMT-GT SUMMIT IN PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA

LEADERS’ JOINT STATEMENT FOR THE 14TH IMT-GT SUMMIT IN PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA

1. We, the Leaders of the Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Kingdom of Thailand, meet today in Phnom Penh, the Kingdom of Cambodia for the 14th Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Summit under Thailand’s Chairmanship.
2. We are aware that the current global geopolitical instability, energy price volatility, and global supply chain disruption have challenged our subregional economic growth and may also impede our recovery progress in the coming years. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicted that the global economic growth will slow to 3.2 percent and 2.7 percent in 2022 and 2023, respectively. We are cognisant that the toughest challenge is yet to come. Therefore, we encourage all stakeholders to explore and initiate strategic actions so that the subregion remains resilient and able to achieve its long-term goals to become an integrated, innovative, inclusive, and sustainable subregion as envisioned by Vision 2036.
