On 22 March 2024, the Director of the Centre for IMT-GT Subregional Cooperation (CIMT), Mr. Amri Bukhairi Bakhtiar, had a meeting with Mr. Hosomi Masashi, Economic Counsellor of the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia. The meeting touched on the potential partnership between IMT-GT and Japan. Both sides had a productive discussion on sharing information related to priority areas and interests and the way forward on this initial engagement.
